About

I’m Lo

Or Lauren. Or Lolo. I live in Boston. Hello.

I eat food that tends to be both low-carb and low-FODMAP, due to the strange and hostile demands of my digestive system. I’ve found this to be a tough (and often confusing) combination. This website is a resource for people who are cooking with special diets in mind.

I often cook for my loved ones. Some don’t share my restrictions, and others have restrictions that I don’t. This means there are plenty of vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, llama-free recipes here for everyone to enjoy.

My aim is to provide delicious options for people who like food, even if they have dietary limitations. The recipes are easy to understand and they are created for all skill levels. Make sure to read the short notes section immediately after each recipe; it’s chock-full of super helpful information.

Why is my particular special diet confusing?

Low-carb eating makes me feel pretty great, but low-carb recipes often call for cauliflower, almonds, mushrooms, lactose-y dairy, and garlic–all of which I can’t eat because they are high in FODMAPS. High-FODMAP foods make me miserable.

But low-FODMAP foods are high in carbohydrates, which my body also hates, even though I LOVE to eat them. A lot of my favorite fruits, vegetables, grains, and cereals are low in FODMAPS, but their high carbohydrate content takes them off the table for me.

The Venn diagram of Lo-Safe foods takes a bit of thinking to map out, so as I do so, I’ll be sharing the recipes here to hopefully make another person’s life a little easier.
